About
About Texas Settlement Calculator
Texas Settlement Calculator is a free, Texas-focused rules-based educational tool. After a car, truck, motorcycle, or other supported accident, the calculator organizes consumer-reported information about injuries, treatment, responsibility, financial impact, insurance, and other claim factors into a broad preliminary range. The range is designed to help users understand the reported factors and uncertainties reflected in the model; it is not an appraisal, legal opinion, prediction of settlement or verdict, or guarantee of recovery.
The tool is built for consumers, not lawyers. It is completely free, requires no sign-up, and never charges the injured person. Its estimates use an illustrative Texas-focused rules-based model that applies disclosed additive components and decision rules to the information a user enters. The model has not been validated against a representative database of resolved Texas claims, and its output is not a prediction, appraisal, legal opinion, or guarantee of recovery.
Texas Settlement Calculator is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or representation. Separately from the calculator, a consumer may choose whether to request contact from the verified paid participating advertiser displayed for the consumer's defined Texas territory. Participating firms pay flat-fee advertising subscriptions. TSC does not recommend or endorse a participating firm, does not choose a substitute firm based on claim facts, and does not receive a percentage of any legal fee, settlement, verdict, or recovery. Use of the calculator or submission of a contact request does not by itself create an attorney-client relationship.
Editorial standards
Our editorial team prepares consumer-facing explanations using primary legal and government sources whenever practical. Legal pages identify their author when that role has been completed. Publication and update dates describe actual editorial events and are not changed merely to make content appear newer.
We distinguish sourced facts from illustrative examples and internal calculator assumptions. We do not present calculator outputs as guaranteed outcomes, and paid attorney participation does not control our methodology, legal explanations, or reporting conclusions.
Public-source research standards
Our public research and educational reports use identified public sources, such as official crash data, government publications, statutes, and court materials. Reports must identify their sources, time periods, definitions, methods, and material limitations, and distinguish sourced facts from our analysis and illustrative examples.
Public research does not use consumer calculator submissions or proprietary platform analytics. Traffic, conversion rates, inquiry counts, signed-case metrics, territory performance, and other platform analytics remain internal and are not published or shared with prospective firms, participating firms, or the public. Aggregation or de-identification does not authorize publication or sharing of these analytics.
Calculator-generated ranges are educational model outputs, not settlements, verdicts, appraisals, or independently verified case outcomes. We do not present those ranges as a dataset of actual outcomes. Hypothetical examples must be clearly labeled and must not reproduce identifiable consumer submissions.
Before publication, public-source reports must undergo data-quality and editorial review, with legal review where appropriate. Headlines and conclusions must reflect the cited evidence. Material source or methodology changes must be explained, and publication or review dates must reflect work actually completed.
Sources and corrections
Reports and legal guides should identify material sources and methodology on the page. When official data or Texas law changes, we review affected content and record a new update or review date only after that work is completed.
If a reader identifies a factual error, the editorial team will compare the claim with the cited primary source, correct confirmed errors, and update the page disclosure when the correction is material. Questions about an individual claim require advice from a licensed attorney and are outside this editorial correction process.
This tool produces a preliminary, non-binding estimate based on the information you provide and general personal-injury valuation methods. It is not legal advice, not a guarantee of any outcome, and not a substitute for review by a licensed attorney. Actual settlements and verdicts vary widely based on evidence, jurisdiction, insurance coverage, and many other factors. Texas Settlement Calculator is not a law firm and does not practice law; use of this tool does not create an attorney-client relationship.
